There have been many planned Immigration changes announced by the Minister during the last month.   The objective being to ensure New Zealand Resident holders and Citizens are given the chance of jobs first.

Whilst the changes will impact on Employers and skilled migrants, we still have to see the policies.

As at today, changes proposed by the Minister are already being changed. It appears Immigration NZ have identified the plan will not work.

What the end result will be we do not know, but further announcements are scheduled for Nov 2019.

One change that has now come into force relates to the Employer Accreditation pathway for a work to residence visa – the salary has increased to $79560 minimum an increase from $55,000 as from 7 October 2019.

We know that the much talked of COMPULSORY ACCREDITATION by employers is coming, otherwise you will be unable to fill your skilled vacancy with a migrant.   Make sure you are ready for this!

In summary, total disarray exists and considerable work needs undertaking to formulate policies by Immigration NZ in consultation with the industry.    Do remember that the policies are being introduced from mid 2020 through to mid 2021.
