Opportunities for New Zealand Employers and Migrant Workers

All of us are experiencing new and often exciting opportunities with borders opening and of course skill shortages worldwide, including here in New Zealand. This could be an opportunity for you.

Immigration New Zealand (INZ) will be finally introducing the Accredited Employer Work Visa on 4 July 2022. INZ are also making some minor updates, on a regular basis, and information is changing very quickly.

Recent examples are some smaller changes made by INZ by expanding worker numbers for those involved in seasonal ski working or the silviculture forestry industry.

Silviculture forestry workers

  • have been expanded from 300 to 500 workers. Workers must be paid at least the median wage and will not be eligible to include partners and/or dependents.

Seasonal ski workers

  • have been expanded from 275 to 335 workers. Workers must be paid at least the median wage, will not be eligible to include partners and/or dependents and must come from one of the following roles: snow sports instructors, snow safety/patrol, groomer operators, lift technicians, ski workshop technicians or snowmaking. Just in the last week alone, many of the ski fields opened with a wonderful early dumping of snow.
