Accredited Employer Work Visas can now be granted for up to 5 years based on a permanent role for migrants from November 2023.

Those who are not on a pathway to residence, and who do not meet the criteria for skilled residence pathways will have to leave New Zealand for at least 12 months before applying for another AEWV.

The 5-year continuous stay does not include the time spent on other temporary visas like a working holiday visa or a post-study work visa.

Information for existing AEWV visa holders

Existing AEWV visa holders can apply for another AEWV to extend their visa by which they will get to stay 5 years in total.

A separate job check by the employer is not required for the second AEWV for the same employment conditions.
