Culturally arranged marriages are a beautiful celebration of global traditions, uniting families and communities across borders. For those looking to visit New Zealand, whether to join a spouse after marriage or begin the journey of an arranged marriage, the Culturally Arranged Marriage Visitor Visa offers a meaningful and supportive pathway to honour these cherished customs.

New Zealand understands the deep significance of culturally arranged marriages and has created this specialised visa to help visitors connect with their partner’s family, engage in cultural celebrations, and be part of the important discussions that lay the foundation for a shared future. Whether you’re attending a traditional ceremony or starting your marriage journey, this visa allows you to take part in these crucial moments, ensuring your plans become a reality.

Navigating visa requirements can feel overwhelming, but with the right guidance, couples and families can embark on this exciting journey with confidence. Woburn International’s Licensed Immigration Advisors bring extensive expertise to help streamline the process. Our advisor Meena is uniquely equipped to assist, having both professional experience with culturally arranged marriage policies and personal experience with her own culturally arranged marriage. Meena’s marriage blossomed into a beautiful life with her husband of 24 years and their wonderful daughter.

When asked about her arranged marriage, Meena shared,” Our marriage was a beautiful journey that started with both our parents coming together to arrange everything. They met, discussed, and carefully planned each step. In our tradition, one of the most meaningful parts of this process was matching our stars to check our compatibility, something deeply important in our culture. We were engaged for six months, a time spent visiting each other’s families and homes, getting to know each other better. The wedding date was set, and we celebrated in full accordance with our cultural customs with over 1,000 guests, five days of beautiful ceremonies, and all the important rituals conducted in front of our families, friends, and our priest. It was a magical event that honoured both our heritage and the love we share. This year, we made a special trip back to India to visit our priest and discuss our daughter’s star book, continuing the traditions of our Gujarati faith as we guide her through the steps of our culture. It’s a journey we’re excited to share with her, just as our families shared their traditions with us.”
